One-Sheet Laundry is Priceless

May 8th, 2009 Brunette

One line in the letter I received was THE statement,

…trying our new product just once will change the way you do laundry forever.

I’m sold!

If you haven’t seen these awesome new 3-in-1™ sheets for the laundry from Purex®, you are missing out! I was fortunate enough to be chosen to be a part of the Purex Insiders, a group of individuals from around the country given the opportunity to try out the new Purex 3-in-1 Laundry Sheets and to give our honest opinion back on the product.

purex-3-in-1-package What are Purex 3-in-1 Laundry Sheets you ask? You know the cure-all pill everyone is waiting to be made? Purex has done it for laundry! Purex has found a way to mix all of the 3 key ingredients for wonderful laundry into one tiny sheet, so all you have to do is pick-n-toss.

Purex 3-in-1 Laundry Sheets offer your detergent, softener, and anti-static all in one sheet that is tossed into the start of your wash and then transfers with your clothes into the dryer. All you have to remember is one thing – the sheet!

Quick and easy laundry, that will save you time. There is no measuring, no spills so no mess, no forgetting, and no bulky plastic bottles. You are helping yourself, along with helping the environment.

And yes, it works! My clothes were clean and soft. They had a great fresh scent that was not overwhelming and my clothes did not have a feeling of residue left behind from the fabric softener. Using the Purex 3-in-1 Laundry Sheets did not leave me feeling like I should have added something else. One sheet worked, and worked beautifully.

My honest opinion – go out, buy Purex 3-in-1 Laundry Sheets and try them just once. The price for a starter kit of 20 sheets is around the price of a 32-load liquid detergent. Remember, you would still need to buy the fabric softener and the anti-static sheets. I think it all equals out pretty close. The ease of use is a plus!

Hurry! If you go to Purex 3-in-1 Laundry Sheet website, you can download a coupon for purchase!

Purex 3-in-1 Laundry Sheets come in 2 forms: a convenient starter pack, including 1 sheet dispenser and 20 laundry sheets or an easy refill of 24 sheets. There are three scents to choose from: Spring Oasis™, Tropical Escape™, and Pure & Clean.

There is also a great sweepstakes going on at the Purex website. You can enter for a chance to win $1,000 or a year’s supply of 3-in-1Laundry Sheets. Winners drawn weekly!

Oh, My Hot Dog Has A First Name

May 4th, 2009 Brunette

OSCARMAYERlogoHaha… this brunette is going to be posting her thoughts on what she really thinks of Oscar Mayer’s all beef franks.

Mom Bloggers Club and Oscar Mayer partnered together to gain perspective on what moms and their families really think of Oscar Mayer all beef franks. I am one of the lucky 100 moms from the MBC that will receive an Oscar Mayer gift card that will allow me to purchase OM all beef franks and my choice of trimmings.

I expect to receive my card this week and then I will be off to make my purchase. Once I make my purchase, grill up some wieners, and start stuffing my herd with beef, I will be posting my feedback of my families thoughts on the Oscar Mayer YouTube group. Don’t worry, I’ll post it here as well and make sure to add the link to the group so you can see other member’s videos.

The post will be up by May 25th , so keep an eye out for it!

Upcoming Awesome Reviews

May 2nd, 2009 Brunette

Shelter Me Cover I LOVE going to the mailbox and finding new adventures waiting inside. Don’t you? Well, not junk mail adventures! But, those fun adventures that will take you away and allow you to experience life, love, happiness, and sadness.

Today, I was lucky enough to have delivered to me a new adventure. I took a quick 30-foot walk, opened up my mailbox and found inside a new awesome book to read and review for you all here titled Shelter Me by Juliette Fay. I have been looking forward to receiving this book and happy to finally have it.

A quick synopsis of Shelter Me without giving too much away is “a mom’s rebirth after her husband’s death.” I know, that alone has a ton of you crying. I tell myself I can hold my own, but I am sure I will share in the tears with you all. Through the tears, I am waiting for the moment where she begins to live again. I think it will be a wonderful book.

I am hoping to have the review up for you all in the next 3 weeks. Be patient with me though because I am reading a few other books :) that i hope to finish up this week and then I can start on Shelter Me. I plan to add this review to the MamaLit review blog as well. If you have not been by there, you should check it out. MamaLit has ten ladies reviewing books. There are some great reviews on there!

A Sparkplugging Intern

May 1st, 2009 Brunette

That be me!

Like a few of you out in the blogoshpere, I received an email from Kelly McCausey, General Editor of Sparkplugging, about participating in a new 10-week internship for Sparkplugging. I was anxious as I read the email because Sparkplugging and Kelly McCausey are top names that you hear repeated throughout online communities everywhere.

I finished reading the email and jumped on filling out the application. I’m a 30-something mom of two and my whole purpose for filling out the application and sending it in, opportunity. Opportunity to learn; growth - both personally and professionally, and the best feeling of all, accomplishment. The accomplishment of ten weeks of challenge that could only make be a better person all around.

Send. Off went the email.

Ding. I had mail.

Later that evening I received an email from Kelly. She wanted to talk with me more about possibly joining the internship. We scheduled our Skype chat for late morning today. If you have never chatted with Kelly, she is awesome. Extremely easy to just chat with and can make you want to chat maybe more than she has time for. :)

Outcome? Well, I am now part of the 10-week internship – well, almost. I am waiting for my internship forms to read over and to accept the commitment. Once I do, I will be part of a great team of interns. Granted I don’t know any of the other possible interns, but we have to be great! We are going to be learning from an awesome lady and will be part of a wonderful team that can only get better!

I will add notes here and there about how I am doing during the internship. Of course I can’t share the work with you, but I can definitely share with you how I am doing. Keep your eyes open for updates!

Wish me luck. Wish all of the interns luck!

Cleaning Has Never Smelled So Good!

May 1st, 2009 Brunette

Ecostore-USAI took the challenge! I tossed out my old chemical smelling stand-by cleaners for a more greener  cleaning product from Ecostore USA. It was difficult to throw out the old, but in with the new and I’m happy that I did it!

When I was contacted by Ecostore USA with the opportunity to try their green products, I was a bit skeptical. Having tired friendlier-family products before, I simply have been left out in the dust – from the expense of a product that cleaned nothing and the dirt and dust still sticking around. Shrugging my shoulders, I figured might as well give it a try.

Our products also help to ensure value for the dollar for our customers. We know it can be expensive to buy natural or organic products but we’ve found a way to safely super-concentrate our formulations. Our super-concentrates means that a little really does go a long way - saving you money by cutting down significantly on cost per use.

Pursuing the website for what products were available to me, I was pleasantly surprised. From baby care to pet care, there is a product for everyone in the family, as well as a cleaning line for the home itself. Not ready to challenge my body, or my kid’s bodies to a change right yet, I chose 3 products from the household cleaning line that best worked with my daily cleaning ritual: the Auto Dish Powder, the Citrus Spray Cleaner, and the Cream Cleanser.

My 13 year old is the responsible loader of the dish washer and because he is so responsible :), many times the dishes are loaded into the washer with dinner still attached. For this reason, I was waiting with anticipation when the first load of dishes was finished. If a detergent can clean the dishes without an issue, then it is a keeper in my books!

Surprisingly, using the correct amount of powder indicated on the product label, I was impressed. There was no residue – from food or the cleaner; the dishes are extremely clean, and even the inside of the dish washer seems to be a bit brighter. Definitely a keeper.

Note: I changed to vinegar as my rinse agent. Inexpensive and healthier.

The Citrus Spray Cleaner was definitely up to the task of cleaning the counters in my home. From the kitchen to the bathrooms, the dirty refrigerator handles and even the oven door. One big thing that turned me off from other green all-purpose cleaners, the slimy feel of foam residue left behind after cleaning. Nasty! Not only was there no slimy residue left, it is ready for quick clean-ups.

Now the most difficult task in my home, the kid’s tub! Stained with hair dye since Halloween 2008, I have tried everything – sprays, cream cleansers, to really harsh gritty powders to scour out the dye. Nothing has worked. I was certain that if harsh chemical could not clean the tub, a green cleaner certainly couldn’t. Now if I said that out loud, I would be eating my words right now.

Tub. Clean. WOW!

From the tub to the stainless steel sinks, the Cream Cleanser was not abrasive, but cleaned exceptional, and rinsed easily.

Overall, I was extremely impressed with the products that I chose. My home is healthier, so my family is healthier. Definitely a plus for someone that has been let down by green friendly products before.

With having such a positive experience with the products I chose from Ecostore USA, I want to give one lucky winner the opportunity to share that same experience!

PTO Treasurer

April 29th, 2009 Brunette

My son has one more year at his current Junior High before moving on to his next school – High School! UGH! What? Yep, high school! But, in the mean time he has one more year and the PTO coordinator sent out an email last week about having to fill PTO spots of members moving on up. Well, I responded and now I am the new treasurer.

I haven’t told my son yet. I think he would be more embarrassed than really care. Now mom will have to go to school with him at least once per month, plus, I will be showing up at school more often than he would like. This is gonna be great! HAHA… is this a cruel mom or what?

I think it will be great for me to have a presence at my son’s school for something other than him getting in trouble, or having to pick up his cell phone because it was confiscated, and what else? Hmmm? Oh, talking to his school counselor. You get he picture. It will be a good thing! He might not think so.

I go on May 8th to formally say “yes” that I will accept the position and then on the 23rd I go to a class that is constructed for Treasurers within the school district. This should be a fun experience and I am definitely going to love it. Of course I will share it all here. :)
