Sex and more

August 1st, 2008 Brunette

There is more sex talk in my Women’s Health Magazine newsletter then there ever is about actually health for women. Honestly! WH Mag seems to think sex will make everything better, from a woman’s period to headaches. Yes, no longer can that excuse be used! With that said, I think that is why I continue to get it. The fun spin they put on sex!

Last week my newsletter listed the Top 3 Women’s Sexual Fantasies. Now, of course knowing that I would eventually talk about it, I of course can’t find the stupid link, not even on the site. If I remember correctly, they are something like this:

  1. Being overpowered during sex
  2. Watching others have sex
  3. Being watched during sex

I stumbled upon another list at iVillage and their list goes something like this:

  1. He’s a virgin, and you are teaching him
  2. He’s your sex slave
  3. You’re abducted by a stranger

So, that right there tells you that women either:

  1. Have no clue what they want because two well known sources can’t even come up with a list remotely alike.
  2. Women know exactly what they want, we all just want something different.
  3. Women just like to keep everyone on their toes and guessing!

I guess we will never truly know, cause I’m not telling :)

Train tracks

July 31st, 2008 Brunette

Braces Kids can be cruel. Even if you believe your child is the purest of all angels, children in general are mean to kids that are or have something different. Now, I am only talking about braces, but it still apply’s today just like it did 20 years ago for me. Anyone that has had braces at one point has been made the brunt of a joke.

Recently, I have seen a change. So, what changed in 20 years? Today braces are a fun, neat things that no one cares about anymore. Did making fun of the kids get old? Or, is it because it is so common that no one really cares? Sure, a child looks silly with a set of new spiffy, shiny tracks on their bony looking grill, but honestly after a few days, it is as if the braces have always been there.

Mr C has had his braces on now for a little over a month and the only thing his friends are moaning about - the color of his bands on the brackets. They want him to get bright yellow, maybe green, the girls want him to get hot pink. I mean braces have become a fashion statement since my day of, “Do you want the metal look, or, well, the metal look?”

This week was a checkup for him. We went in and as usual he goes back for the checkup on his own and 30 minutes later here he comes with a mouth full of limeade. OMG! He had color all over. Yellow, green, pink. He had every color his friends asked for. His mouth was so bright that I guarantee if he slept with his mouth open, he would light up his room at night. WOW!

I have tried taking a picture of his glow-in-the-dark mouth, but he has not been very cooperative. He is NOT a picture taker at all, even if it is just his mouth. I can’t really get one at night while he is asleep either, since he has a loft bed taller then me, but I will continue with my effort. It is a sight to see!

What the heck is that?

July 28th, 2008 Brunette

Honestly, what the heck is coming out of her freaking ear? Miss K has been sick for a week now. Starting with swimmer’s ear, turned into an ear infection, then this past weekend bleeding from her ear. Rushed her to the Doctor - thankfully not a ruptured ear drum, but abrasions to her ear canal from the infection.

From this drop to that drop, to cotton in her ear, to an ear cover, to covering pillows at night time, a couple shots of acetaminophen now, to a couple of shots of ibuprofen later, you would think she has some sort of infectious disease that mankind has never seen before! When will the insanity STOP?

And Cranky? Whew! She might be 7, but she is all full of fire when she is sick. I am about ready to lock myself in the bathroom and take a shot of something for mom. This is one of those moments that a parent longs for the “cure all pill”. I know one will never be invented simply because scientist will be out of work, oh, but ‘what if’?

“What if” the cure all pill existed:

  • We could take a bath instead of a shower
  • We could pull up our pants before darting out of the bathroom
  • Heck, we could use the bathroom alone without locking
  • We would only do 1 load of laundry instead of 10 with sick-virus
  • We could sleep for more than an hour at a time
  • We could go a whole 5 minutes without being called for
  • We could go a whole 3 minutes without whining
  • We wouldn’t sweat to death from a child laying on top of us
  • We wouldn’t have to wipe snot away
  • We wouldn’t have to clean gunk from ears
  • We wouldn’t have a throw up bucket by the sofa
  • We wouldn’t find snotty tissues from last weeks cold

OK, the list could go on and on and on! But, in some weird way, these are the things that make parenthood all the more better!

Time to go take care of my sick one.

moon wonder

July 8th, 2008 Brunette

I survived MONDAY!!!

I thought there was no way my dragging butt was gonna get through it, but I did, I’m here! The only thing off about today so far… rain. It is raining, so if you want it, take it. It’s free!

HAHAHA! Oh that’s funny. I’m writing this post and looking out the window as some idiot driver turns the corner, clearly has time to see their is a garden-type island in the parking lot and drives right up on it. Must have done something because he doesn’t seem to be going anywhere. And I’m the one that has to go to defensive driving class!

Ahhh… the joys of having a nice big window to watch the world. And, I often wonder, “What the heck was that person thinking?”

So, back to my Monday.

To cap off the night, Miss K asked me this questions, “Do they make moon block?”

Now mind you I was writing up an article since she was actually suppose to be in bed, so I really didn’t catch what she said.

“Now, what did you ask?”

She said it again, “Do they make moon block?”

“Moon block? What do you mean baby?”

She looks at me with her hands moving all over - hand talker # 2 in our family - “You know. They make sun block for you in the sun. Do they make moon block for you at night?”

And that made my Monday :)

weeks mushed together

June 23rd, 2008 Brunette

Well, if you tried to reach the blog over the past few days, we were down due to a server transfer. Then today, thanks to Ryan finding all of my posts for me, I re-posted the last two weeks posts - lost them - during transition. So, that means all of the comments were bye-bye too. At least we have the posts. So if you want to re-comment, please by all means, go ahead!

Also, I had another post ready to go up today, but it’s saved on my laptop at home and I don’t want to re-type trying to figure out what I had originally, so I will post once I get home.

So, it has been a Monday! Don’t ou just wish you could have a Tuesday or Wednesday on Monday?

Today, kiddos are at the dentist, Mr C’s last cleaning before the braces are put on tomorrow. He also has his first training session at LearningRX today after the dentist. I will fill you in on that tomorrow.

Tomorrow, I will fill you in on my training session. Wednesday, I will fill you in on how braces go tomorrow. Plus Wednesday is my day in court for my speeding ticket. Guilty and gonna plead that way. I’m taking the increase and points and just moving on.

WOW, Thursday and Friday will seem tame to you all after all my posts these next few days. You know what, that is fine with me! I need a few days of quiet around here :)

So, I will get my other post up later and everyone have a great second half of the day!

Under fire, stressed, and daughter wants to run away

June 12th, 2008 Brunette

OK, it was long and drawn out. Probably didn’t need a title that long, but you get the picture. I’m exhausted this week! And, the only thing I have to show for my hard work, stupid reports that will get written on in the morning.

My week started out with my daughter wanting to run away. Leave. She was mad at me for disciplining her for yelling at me. She was sent to her room and the next thing I know, she has her backpack packed and is on the move.

Miss K is very independent and trust me, had I not gone outside after a few minutes of waiting for the outcome, she would have been gone for good!

So I let her go. Waited about 3 minutes and then went outside and had a little talk with my sunshine. I offered to give her a ride to the stop sign. We got in the car and off we went. Once we got to the stop sign, I asked, “Would you like something to eat before you go?”

“Can I have a hot fudge sundae?” she asked. That was that. Off I drove to get a sundae.

Once she had the sundae, all thoughts of leaving were gone. We were good to go after that! Can you imagine a 7 year old walking down the street, running away? The neighbors thought it was a hoot!

So, the crisis averted at home left with me a ton of stress at work.

I am preparing to gear up for a new season and the reports! OMFG! It is crazy some of the stuff they ask for. It makes NO sense, but I don’t tell them that - even though that is my job - to tell them exactly that! The last time I told them though, I got a not-to-nice response. Whatever!

So, all week I have been pulling together graphs and charts. Working extremely late at home. No time for me. I am sure I squeezed in a shower somewhere. Oh, crap, I think I forgot to eat. Oops, need to get that freaking PowerPoint done! UGH. What is sunlight again?

Thankfully it will only last for a while and then it will be calm for a bit - then the freaking storm will hit with a vengeance! But I will take it and deal. I always do. I am in desperate need of a vacation! Vacation fund - coming soon.

Once I am done with dinner, kids, and work, I have been hitting the sack. So, that is why it has been quiet here - cause I have been loud at other places this week. Next week should be a bit more calmer… but my stress at work won’t be over for a few more weeks. I will of course fill you all in.

Time to eat something. I’m starving!
