Who Knows You Blog?

When I first started this blog it was a means to unclutter my mind with all the crap that was in there; irritations about my separation and husband, to help with a bit of child-stress, and to maybe figure out where I needed to go in life. My venting machine - hmm… change the title? Nah!

No one knew in my family that I was writing this blog, no need to share it with them. Again, my venting blog. What good was a venting blog if I shared it with those I vented about? So, no one knew, and still to today, no one in my family knows about this particular blog.

As I ventured out and began blogging other places, I had to schedule my time a bit more wisely. I never take time from my children, but I did begin to ask their dad to keep them an hour longer for his time. When time changed, the questions followed. What’s going on? So, I told him.

Well, the thing I knew would happen, happened. “What? That’s stupid! Why are you doing that?” “Takes time away from the family.” No, you mean it takes time away from you! You want me to be doing what you want; going here, going there, doing this, doing that. The questions never ended.

By the time he was done, I felt like calling it quits. Again, one more thing that I do for me, squashed by the attitude of a selfish man. I didn’t quit, I enjoy what I do. Even if only one person reads each of the blogs I do, I do them for me and to either give enjoyment, help or advice.

Well, he knows I blog, but not what they are; he could care less. I told him because we are suppose to be mending our relationship, this is important to me, so I thought I would share something I felt for, but this is one more reason to question “What the heck am I still doing with him?”

I don’t talk about blogging either. Not that I am surrounded by selfish people, I just lack patience to explain.

    Why do you do that?
Who the heck would want to read a blog?
    Isn’t a blog just a diary?
How do you get paid for that?
So you mean people actually go to your site and read it?

You know, I don’t have time to educate every narrow minded and tech UN-savvy person.

Gee whiz I am taking this post personally I better go sit down somewhere and breathe.

Haha… I had to breathe after writing it. The more I thought about how he felt, the more irritated I got.

First, I’m glad that you aren’t giving up blogging because of someone else. As you said, this is for YOU!

Second, why does your husband have such a problem with you blogging? Would he feel the same if you were writing your thoughts and feelings in a journal? I hope that he will come to see that this is something important to you–and you are good at it!

    Hugs!

My in-laws (SILs) know I blog, read it and sometimes even leave a comment or two. My parents know, but are internet-phobic. Several friends read it, but only two leave comments. The others, I guess are too embarrassed to join in the fun. It’s a wonderful outlet for de-stressing. I hope you don’t stop.

@ Stacey: Honestly, I couldn’t tell you why he has an issue with it. Maybe he doesn’t like the fact that it is online. If it were a hand written journal, he would just sneak and read it. Caught him doing that before.

@ Tara: Thanks. I don’t plan on going anywhere. This is my outlet and I started it to express how i felt. If he chooses to be shallow about it, that is his problem.

I started our blog for family and friends who live far away. Now it has become a social outlet for me as well as a way to share thoughts with other parents like yourself. And thanks for leaving a comment recently as well. Keep in touch and keep doing what your doing.

Nearly everyone I know, including family, know about my blog, and many of them read it.

@ Ty’s Dad: My blog is definitely my outlet. Although many of my posts are calm, if ever I need to vent or let off steam, this is where I come.

@ HP: Thanks for stopping by. No one in my family knows of this blog simply because they all know that I blog at other blogs and I did not get such a great reaction. I guess you could say I am a bit reluctant to let them in on this one.

My husband rolls his eyes. Every time he does I think, “that makes me love you just a tiny bit less. You’re intentionally invalidating me and I KNOW it.”

Then I think, oh the poor soul has no clue. He doesn’t believe in anything and that’s no way to live.

Then he says, lets by a computer for your work and i feel a little more validated. Then we fight and he says assish stuff like “your work! Ha what are you making at that! I’m basically supporting you!” and I say, “Of course you’re supporting me - what do you think I married you for - Money? If you’re not going to be supportive then why are we even married?” Obviously he means financially and I mean emotionally and I often ask myself the same questions you are asking.

Marriage sucks sometimes. My husband doesn’t get me and last year - near divorce - I decided to stop caring whether He gets Me or not. I get me. I validate me. Our marraige is much better now that I don’t care what he thinks.

Ask me why I can’t say any of this stuff on MY own blog? I made the mistake of telling him about it - address, mission, goal and everything. It only makes it more painful when he rolls his eyes. I’m just saying - I feel your pain.

People who don’t blog don’t “get” what it’s all about. It’s no different than an artist who paints or a musician who plays an instrument. For me it’s a personal release that I find very therapeutic and rewarding. Other people should not be allowed to take that away from me.

@ Senora & April: Thanks ladies. It is nice to know that people ‘get it’ and accept me for what I want to do. A great outlet and enjoyable and that should be what matters.

@ T-semi: I understand where you are coming from and looks like you understand me. It is a shame that our blogging can’t be seen as something that we love to do and be left at that. Not the joke that they see it as.
