Training Day 6

March 22nd, 2008 Brunette

I know, I know, it’s late. Better late than never. I went to training today, came home, and that was all I remember. Thankfully it was dad’s day to handle the kids, because I slept! I slept pretty much the day away. I woke up, got some tacos, and then decided to write this.

So, it was my day off, plus being Good Friday my office was closed, so dedication to working out is when you get up on a day you should be sleeping in just to go sweat. Since my trainer couldn’t train on our normal day, yesterday, I got my butt up and trudged off to the gym.

I got there early, so I did my 15 minutes on the treadmill to warm up and then it was time to burn. My favorite thing in the world - LUNGES - is what Trainer K surprised me with first. WTH!? Did I not die enough the other day? UGH!!! I did them - 35 of them - and all I have to say is I better have a butt and thighs of steel when I am done.

After the lunges - time to get the heart rate up. She had me doing jumps/slides… like skiing and then jumping jacks, but not. I Know, no clue. I haven’t done a jumping jack since, hmm… well, anyway. I know I had to look like an idiot, hope someone got a kick from my suffering. With my heart rate up it was time to kill my core. Abs are such a joy to work on.

Trust me, we worked my poor abs. No clue what they are called (quite honestly she doesn’t call anything by a name, she just shows me) but lots of kickboxing moves - twists at the hips and stomach to get lots of motion from the abs. Trainer K has me do each move in sets of 25, 5 moves, a total of 100 ab killers! I felt like I was going to puke. OMG! I thought I hated lunges. OK, so I still hate lunges. WTF, I hate it all, but I do it.

On to arms, heavy free weights and struggling! These are pretty normal, 4 moves, 3 sets of 12, but she makes me do them all in one motion basically. All 4 different moves as one set, one motion, then I can rest and do it again. Talk about struggling! I have some weak ass arms. The only good thing about these - it helps lift what having two kids killed :)

A good training session. Yes, it was good and I will admit, it is hard work, I hate it and wish that the magic pill would be made sooner, rather than later, but I am dedicated to getting it done. Oh, by the way - drum roll please - I have gone down one pant size. Not a big change, but definitely enough to say maybe go back for some more pain!

Training Day 4

March 13th, 2008 Brunette

Well I definitely know that I worked out! I am a little sore, a bit on fire, but not bad. When I first started I was in pain, but my body really hadn’t used any muscles for working out in a long time. I am still sore, so I can tell it is working, but it is no longer painful.

We concentrated on arms and shoulders today, some on my legs, and ending with ab work. I am getting through the arm work, but really struggling on the 3rd sets. Suppose too. Once I got into shoulders, I could really feel my weakness again. My shoulders and into my upper back are just wimp parts of my body. Eventually I will get it.

There are still some exercises that I need to work on to help strengthen my balance. I catch myself on some because I am wobbling. The worse so far, working my calves on the step. I wanna scream! Usually do once my body starts to burn, but everyone in there is pushing themselves, so they could care less.

Saturday is kickboxing. I plant o go as long as the rain holds off long enough for me to drive there and back. I hate driving in the rain because where I live, if the road is wet, they have no clue what to do. Should be a fun adventure.

Training Day 3

March 11th, 2008 Brunette

I am surprised that I am not in a terrible amount of pain. I’m sore, but livable. Today, I worked on my legs and abs. Always abs of some sort. My trainer had me do the bike for ten minutes to warm up, then the dreaded step which killed my thighs last week, and then some balancing stretches to murder my poor calves. I am A-OK!

Hopefully since I am not feeling too sore today that means that my body is beginning to handle the change it is taking on. No, no physical changes that can be seen, but I am beginning to feel better. I seem to have more energy. I also seem to have a huge freaking appetite after working out.

So, I will be changing up my food plan, bigger breakfast before hand, so I am not so hungry after and want to eat house and home. Then I will modify my other smaller meals to help out.

One thing I have noticed is how weak my body is. Many of the muscles I am using haven’t ben exercised in forever. I can especially feel it in my arms/shoulders. When working on free weights, I push myself to the limit, but really struggle because I just can’t find that last humph to get over the hurdle. I know as I continue, soon it will be no problem. Right now it is frustrating.

Training Day 2 (Again)

March 6th, 2008 Brunette

My first day 2, my trainer did not show up. My second day 2, it snowed like heck and training was canceled, NOW my third day 2, and I feel like I was run over by a dump truck. She made me want to cry!

Feeling like jello is an understatement. I did lunges today, over, and over, and over. Then some more. My thighs are shaky and my butt  - well, lets not go there. Then she had to throw in some free weights and some pelvic thing - this made my whole body hate her!

Whew! All that was done and then what!? She has me do some ‘core’ training, so my stomach feels like it is going to explode and I can’t quit seem to life my arms up enough to reach anything on a high shelf. Not that my height helps with that!

Bath and Epsom salt. Bath and Epsom salt. Bath and Epsom salt. That is all I am thinking about right now. Hurry up work day and take me home! Did I mention that it HURTS to sit.

I know, I know. Whiny! My body has not been through this kind of stuff in a long time and trust me… I feel it, but I am motivated. She can hurt me all she wants, I’m not quitting.

So, kickboxing is on Saturday. Never done that and have no clue what to expect. This should be fun. I think? So, as long as I can still type on Saturday, I will give you an update then. On to day 3!
