Gimme. I want now. Gotta have!

November 9th, 2008 Brunette

A smartphone that is!

Talk has been flowing throughout various social networks concerning smart phones. The new. The hottest. The now. You know… the one that everyone wants. The talk is still iPhone 3G, but chatter around town is slowly moving towards a few new hotties on the block, one being T-Mobile’s G1 with Google. She is beautiful, sleek, has awesome curves, and what could be better than the full keyboard - oh, yea, Google is all over the G1.

Unfortunately, I don’t have have the T-Mobile G1, so I can’t really share much more than what is on the website or what has been shared by those they are lucky enough to have captured one of these beauties. Why do I write about her? I WANT ONE! OK, there is my shameless GIMME. I WANT ONE! I want one for a few simple reasons - I need the full keyboard for quick notes to myself when I am comp shopping and I like that Google is easy-to-use. Like many of us out there, I’m a busy, full-time working mom and I want, I need - easy!

What sucks for me about the T-Mobile G1? Well, that it is on T-Mobile of course. I can’t say from experience if the T-Mobile network sucks, but I’m not on the T-Mobile network, so right now unless I want to pay out for the fees to get out from under my current contract, the awesome G1 will not be mine. Oh well. Bye-bye to a new hottie on the block.

What? Another hot one is making waves? Sleek, beautiful, a little iPhone mystery? A storm is a brewing over at Blackberry and the waves are rolling in! Commercials very reminiscent of when iPhone was launching, the Blackberry Storm was cloaked. Every time we were about to see her face, poof, the commercial was done. Now she in unveiled and showing her pretty little face all over at Blackberry.com.

Her look, can you say iPhone? Trying to gain users from the other network, BlackBerry Storm is the phone to acquire if you are on the Verizon network. Again, I do not have the Storm and no Verizon here for me, but she definitely gives you the vibe of the iPhone and would definitely be a great alternative. I would be drowning in the Storm if I had Verizon! My only drawback - no full keyboard like G1. So far that keyboard is hands-down what I need.

No T-Mobile. No Verizon. That leaves me with AT&T. That is my network and I can leave for greener pastures, or the phones of my choice if I want to pay fees out of places where money is NOT made. For now I will stay until my time is up and the two choices at the top of my list - iPhone 3G of course and the BlackBerry Bold. There is so much surrounding iPhone 3G - positive and negative. I have learned you either love it or you hate it. Not many people find a middle ground when it comes to iPhone. I really would LOVE an iPhone, at least to give it the old college try, but I’m not paying the price for a try.

BlackBerry, well, it’s BlackBerry. I mean there is the good and bad like any, but it seems to stand the test of time. Plus, I like the Bold. It has a stylish look. It’s not a full face like the other 3 phones mentioned here, but at least it has a keyboard that I can manipulate easily and it will function the way I need a busy mom’s phone to handle. Expensive, yes, but it will be a phone that I will use for more that a college try, so it should more than pay for itself with the hell I plan to put it through.

Mad Dayz

July 10th, 2008 Brunette

There were three posts I could do today for you - a cute meme I had completely done, then it vanished on me; tell you my pain as I try to buy a new laptop with no money; or, figure out how to pimp myself for a new iPhone 3G. Well, the meme is gone, I’m always a whiny butt, so how about puppy-dog-eyes-83825the pimping? Hey, 2 for 1 - laptop and iPhone!

So, how does one pimp to get what they want? Yea, I know that. Trust me that is what my Twitter friends suggested. I might be desperate, but not THAT desperate. I can try what my daughter does to get her way. Those cute little puppy dog eyes. Doesn’t work on mom, but she has her dad wrapped around her little finger!

Hmm… maybe get down on my hands and knees and beg? Beg until the sun comes up, goes down, comes up… you get the picture. My goal for the begging forever - they will get tired of listening to me and just give my the laptop and iPhone to shut up! I am good at talking and I even will throw my hands in for special effects. Hey, who can resist?

Then there was this post! Pimp myself out by basically saying, “Hey, I’m not above begging on an open forum to get what I want.” So, that sounds like it’s the one! I’m begging on my lil ‘ole me blog because I’m a heel and I want an iPhone 3G and a laptop. Well I want the phone, but I need the laptop.

Please? Pretty please? With whipped cream on top? And a cherry!? I mean heck, stick a pull string in my back and I’ll pimp myself out for Apple.

“Buy an iPhone. They Rock.”

“Buy an iPhone. They’re Awesome.”

“Buy an iPhone. They’re smack your grammy good.”

You get the picture :)

next on the agenda - braces

May 26th, 2008 Brunette

Well, not for me, my oldest. After years of battling bike accidents, that led to jaw and teeth surgeries, that led to major screwed up mouth issues, he has now reached the point to get braces on. Thankfully! In two weeks, the metal will be a shining in my son’s mouth.

It is sad, but I had to put off getting the braces for my son for about six months just so I could find an Orthodontist that would fit my budget. The good thing about it, I actually found the top Orthodontist in my area AND he was willing to work with the payments I can afford. There is something said for being patient.

Now, if I could only find someone to give me reduced prices on tires and free plastic surgery, I am good to go. Oh, did I mention I would REALLY love an iPhone? You know, I am a busy mom, have to keep a ton of schedules together!

Anywho, Mr C is thankful for the braces at last. He is truly the one that has kept me going trying to find someone that would work with us. He is embarrassed by his teeth and even his friends have made fun of them. He wants braces on and he now has gotten his wish.

Do you remember back when we were first getting braces on - like 20-some years ago? OMG! has it really been that long? We hated the thought of the metal, being called names like “train tracks,” all for the sake of some beauty. Back then, we were use to crooked teeth. That’s just how it was.

Today, it is second nature to have braces put on. Everyone does it, but stupid insurance still sees it as a cosmetic surgery, so they don’t cover near what they should on costs. Oh well. If they would take a gander at my son’s teeth, Orthodontics might get a big boost in coverage. They wouldn’t want any child’s teeth like that.

Trust me, his is to keep the bully’s from making fun, but also so that he can eat a tad bit normal.

So, wish us luck over the next few weeks, as he gets them on, and mom has to take care of the mouth as I listen to how much it hurts. I know. Been there. That is gonna suck and I will need to exercise some extreme patience with him.

Oh the joys of parenting. We LOVE it thought!
